Picture this… you’re in an open field, mountains towering over a beautiful white tent while rays of sunshine beam down upon you. A warm summer breeze blows in your hair as you nibble on a delectable hors d oeuvre then sip from a perfectly matched Chardonnay. While this may sound like the perfect Napa weekend… you’re actually at the Jackson Hole Wine Auction 2015.
Each June the nation’s preeminent charity wine auction and one of the West’s premier food and wine events celebrates the culinary talents of renowned chefs and the crafts of world-class vintners to raise funds for the Grand Teton Music Festival. We spoke with Jackson Hole Wine Auction’s Director of Development, Anna Dobbins, to get her insider tips for attending this distinguished event.
1. Don’t be fashionably late for Taste of Jackson Hole
Our featured chefs and vintners are guests too so you won’t want to miss your opportunity to show them Jackson Hole hospitality. And you’ll need the entire four hours to visit every booth.
2. Have a Designated Driver
There’s no need to drive when you can ensure a safe ride home with the START bus or one of our town’s friendly taxi drivers.
3. Review the catalog before the Auction
There are lots of lots and if you haven’t done your homework you could miss your chance to win your favorite wine or an amazing winery tour.
4. Attend with your friends
The gala tables seat 8 so grab your favorite people and enjoy the auction excitement, fine wine and amazing food together.
5. Leave the stilettos in your closet
Held on a stunning cattle ranch in the shadow of the Tetons, the event is no place for high heels, but boots or wedges pair perfectly with your favorite dress and dancing.
6. Stay at Hotel Terra Jackson Hole
Thursday after the Grand Wine Tasting and Taste of Jackson Hole you’ll only have a short walk to your room. On Friday and Saturday you can schedule massages in Chill Spa and enjoy the roof-deck hot tub before indulging in an amazing dining experience at one of the Signature Private Dinners and the Auction & Gala dinner.
Now that you have the insider tips, we hope to see you at the Jackson Hole Wine Auction, June 25-27.
